Candidates will first have to register on the official apprenticeship portal apprenticeshipindia.gov.in. After registration, they will have to visit the Metro Railway Kolkata website mtp.indianrailways.gov.in and apply online which is available from 23 December 2025 to 22 January 2026. Applicants will have to carefully fill in all the details as per their 10th certificate and upload the required documents, which should include a recent photograph, signature, 10th certificate, ITI certificate and caste/PwBD/ESM certificate (if applicable) in the prescribed format. The application fee has to be paid online through the given payment gateway. After submitting the form, a printout of the application should be taken for future reference.

A merit list is prepared based on the average percentage of marks obtained in 10th class and ITI (both are given equal weightage). If equal, preference is given to the older candidate, and if the age is also the same, preference is given to the candidate who passed 10th earlier. Based on this merit list, candidates are shortlisted in the ratio of 1:50 for document verification, after which the final selection is made.
