The Sports Authority of India has published a total of 323 vacancies for the post of Assistant Coach, distributed across various sports disciplines. Major vacancies include Athletics (28), Shooting (28), Swimming (26), Wrestling (22), Boxing (19), Badminton (16), Table Tennis (14), Field Hockey (13), Cycling, Gymnastics, Archery, Basketball, and Football (12 each), along with several other sports like Volleyball, Weightlifting, Taekwondo, Rowing, Fencing, and more. Smaller numbers of posts are available in disciplines such as Judo, Handball, Kabaddi, Wushu (6 each), Canoeing (7), Tennis (8), and Kho-Kho (2).

SAI Assistant Coach Recruitment Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have any one of the following:

  • Diploma in Coaching from SAI NS-NIS Patiala or any recognized institute
    OR
  • Participation in Olympics / Asian Games / World Championship + Coaching Certificate
    OR 
  • Must be a Dronacharya Awardee

Age Limit:

  • Maximum Age: 30 years

Age Relaxation:

SC/ST: 5 years
OBC: 3 years

Sports Authority of India Assistant Coach 2026 Pay Scale

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) offers an attractive remuneration package for the position of Assistant Coach under the 'Level-6' pay scale, ranging from Rs. 35,400 to 1,12,400 per month. In addition to the basic pay, selected candidates will receive various allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, medical benefits, and leave facilities in accordance with Central Government regulations.
