Ujjwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana 2026 - UDAY Yojana

The Ujjwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana (UDAY) is a major reformative scheme in the power sector, launched by the Government of India in November 2015. Its primary objective is to improve the financial health of power distribution companies (DISCOMs) and enhance their operational efficiency companies that were, at the time, burdened by massive losses and debt. Under this scheme, state governments assume a significant portion of the DISCOMs' debt and undertake reformative measures, such as reducing power losses, improving the efficiency of billing and collection systems, and promoting and implementing energy-efficient initiatives like LED lighting and smart metering.
