Ayushman Bharat Yojana 2026; Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission is a major healthcare scheme launched by the Government of India to provide affordable and accessible healthcare to poor and vulnerable families. It was launched in 2018 under the leadership of Narendra Modi. The scheme aims to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by providing free medical treatment and improving healthcare across the country. It has two main components: Health and Wellness Centres (HWC) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). Under this scheme, eligible families can get cashless health insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per year for treatment in secondary and tertiary level hospitals in listed hospitals across India.

Main Components of Ayushman Bharat Yojana

The scheme has two major components:

(1) Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs) -

  • These centers provide basic healthcare services such as maternal care, child health services, free medicines, diagnostic tests, and treatment for common diseases.

(2) Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) -

  • Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana provides health insurance coverage of up to Rs.5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary hospital treatment.

  • Includes treatment of critical illnesses, surgeries and medical procedures.
  • Applicable to both government and private hospitals registered under this scheme.

Eligible families as per the data of Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011 can avail the benefits of this scheme.

In rural areas:

  • Families with unmade houses.
  • Families without adult earning members.
  • SC/ST families.
  • Landless families dependent on manual labour.

In urban areas:

  • Workers like raw material pickers, domestic workers, construction workers, street vendors, drivers, sanitation workers etc.

This scheme covers a wide range of treatments, including:

  • Cancer treatment
  • Kidney treatment
  • Brain surgery
  • Orthopedic procedures
  • Newborn and child healthcare
  • Maternity care

More than 1,500 medical procedures are covered under this scheme.

How to Apply for Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission Yojana 2026 

How to Apply Online -

  1. Check Eligibility: Visit the PMJAY website and click "Am I Eligible."
  2. Login: Enter your mobile number and verify using OTP.
  3. Search Details: Select your state and search using Name / Ration Card / HHD number.
  4. Complete e-KYC: If eligible, click Apply Now and finish Aadhaar e-KYC.
  5. Download Card: After approval, download the Ayushman Card.

How to Apply Offline -

  1. Visit Center: Go to the nearest CSC center or empanelled hospital.
  2. Submit Documents: Provide Aadhaar Card, Ration Card, and mobile number.
  3. Verification: Arogya Mitra will verify details and complete biometric verification.
  4. Get Card: Your Ayushman Card will be printed and issued.
