NMMS Scholarship 2026; NMMS (National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme) is a central scholarship scheme of the Government of India that helps meritorious students from economically weaker families continue their education from class 9 to 12 without dropping out after class 8. NMMS Scholarship 2026 Eligibility Criteria 

  • The student must be a regular student of class 8 at the time of application.
  • Must be studying in a government/government-aided/local body-run school.
  • The annual income of the parents from all sources must be Rs.3,50,000 or less.
  • The student must have obtained the minimum required marks in the previous class (generally at least 55%, with a 5% relaxation for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates).
  • Students of private schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV), Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV), or other residential schools are not eligible.

NMMS Scholarship 2026 Amount

The amount of the NMMS scholarship for each selected student is Rs. 12,000 per year, which is effectively disbursed as Rs. 1,000 per month during their studies in classes 9, 10, 11, and 12. This amount is deposited directly into the student's bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), which supports their education and helps reduce the likelihood of them dropping out of school after class 8. This scholarship is awarded to 100,000 meritorious students from economically weaker sections to prevent dropout at the secondary level.

The Department of Women & Child Development, Puducherry has released a notification for the recruitment of 618 posts of Anganwadi Workers (344 posts) and Anganwadi  Helpers  (274 posts) under the Samshak Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 project.
