- The student must be a regular student of class 8 at the time of application.
- Must be studying in a government/government-aided/local body-run school.
- The annual income of the parents from all sources must be Rs.3,50,000 or less.
- The student must have obtained the minimum required marks in the previous class (generally at least 55%, with a 5% relaxation for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates).
